Regulated by NCR
At CapVerge, trust begins with accountability. As an NCR-registered credit provider, we operate within the regulatory framework established by South Africa’s National Credit Act, 34 of 2005. The National Credit Act provides the framework for regulating consumer credit in South Africa, promoting responsible credit granting, improving standards of consumer information, and protecting consumers within the credit market. The National Credit Regulator (NCR) plays an important role in regulating the credit industry, registering industry participants, promoting compliance, investigating complaints, and supporting the effective enforcement of the Act.
For us, being part of this regulated environment is more than a registration requirement. It represents a responsibility to operate with professionalism, transparency, accountability, and respect for the consumers we serve. Financial decisions can have a meaningful impact on people’s lives, which is why we believe customers should have access to clear information and should be treated fairly throughout their financial journey.
The National Credit Act was established to promote a fair and non-discriminatory consumer credit marketplace, establish standards relating to consumer credit, promote responsible credit granting and use, and prohibit certain unfair credit and credit-marketing practices. These principles are important to the way we approach our business and the experience we aim to provide to every customer who engages with CapVerge.
Our commitment to responsible lending means that we do not view a credit application simply as a transaction. We recognise that behind every application is a person, a household, a business, or a financial goal. That is why clear communication and responsible processes matter. Customers should be able to understand the nature of the credit they are considering, the obligations associated with it, and the information relevant to their decision.
Being regulated also means operating within established standards rather than creating our own rules. The NCR maintains a public register of credit providers, providing consumers with a way to verify registered industry participants. This regulatory framework forms an important part of the accountability that exists within South Africa’s consumer credit industry.
At CapVerge, we are proud to operate within this framework and to build our business on principles of responsibility, transparency, and customer respect. As we continue to grow, our commitment to these principles remains central to everything we do. We believe that sustainable growth is built not only through the number of customers we serve, but through the quality of the relationships we establish and the confidence we earn over time.
Our goal is to make every interaction with CapVerge professional, clear, and respectful. We want customers to know that their financial decisions matter, that information should be understandable, and that responsible lending is a shared responsibility between credit providers and consumers.
Regulation provides the framework. Responsibility defines how we operate within it.
For CapVerge, being regulated by the NCR is not simply something displayed on our website — it is part of the standard we hold ourselves to as we build a financial brand South Africans can approach with confidence.
